Mag 80 Breaks Out Of Doldrums, Flees To Tahiti
The pain is past and life is beautiful in the Transpacific Yacht Club’s 13th Tahiti Race—at least for Doug Baker and his crew on Magnitude 80.

The race leaders from Long Beach, Calif. broke out of the Doldrums Sunday.

On the ninth day, with 1,233 miles to go, Mag 80 was on schedule to break the record of 14 days 21 hours 15 minutes 26 seconds set by Fred Kirschner’s Kathmandu in the last Tahiti Race in 1994 by about two days.

Lynx Sports Management have taken delivery of six boats which will initially be based at Lymington, but can be easily repositioned for other events including Cowes Week, Cork Week plus other UK and Overseas regattas.

The availability of six boats in new, racing condition involving up to 36 crew makes them ideal for any corporate sailing event or business charter. Experienced helmsmen can be supplied for teams without race experience.

Melges 32 Audi Circuit

The three way battle for supremacy in the Cagliari edition of the Melges 32 Audi Circuit 2008 between Claudio Recchi on ‘Uka Uka Racing’, Savino Formentini’s ‘Bitipi’ and Stefano Leporati’s ‘Kismet and went down to the wire on the third and final day.

After six races ‘Uka Uka Racing’ held a tenuous one point lead over ‘Bitipi’ who in turn were only two points ahead of ‘Kismet’. All three teams knew that they needed strong results on the final day to challenge for the title.
