The Tall Ships’ Races
Maloy, Norway: More vessels in The Tall Ships’ Races finished overnight and arrived in Maloy to a warm welcome with their national anthems played and flags raised. The small fishing town of Maloy is about to be doubled in size with the arrival of the fleet and everyone is involved in some way or other. Two cruise ships have been brought in to cater for the numbers of people expected, as the one hotel with its 48 rooms would not be able to cope!

Isabelle Magois Joins The Team Grand Pavois Organisation
Qualified reinforcement for the team of Grand Pavois Organisation with the arrival of Isabelle Magois at the position of “Senior Advisor for the Transat.” In charge of the relations with the participants and privileged contact for the Class Mini from the 1st of next September. Isabelle will also supervise the administrative organisation of the Mini Pavois (qualifying race) and the Transat 6.50 Charente-Maritime/Bahia 2009, the sailors’ reception, the organisation of events (prize giving ceremonies, animations…), the participation of Grand Pavois Organisation for the International Boat Show in Paris next December.

David Campbell-James Takes RYA Competitions Reins
David Campbell-James has replaced Rob Andrews as the RYA Competitions Manager following Andrews’ appointment as the London 2012 Organising Committee’s Sport Competition Manager for Sailing.
Andrews had spearheaded the RYA’s World Class Events strategy since 2005 and through Campbell-James’ role as RYA Race Officials Education Officer and Principal Race Officer, the pair had worked closely together in ensuring Britain attracts and runs top class international regattas as well as the whole range of domestic events.
