Aberdeen Dragon European Championship
Maxim Logutenko, skipper on I Feel Good from Pirogovo Yacht Club never lost sight of his closest enemies, and friends from the same yacht club, in the last race in Aberdeen Dragon European Championship. He and his crew are the new European Champions.

While Maxim Logutenko sailed the last race in Oslofjorden, Norway the Olympics opened in Beijing. He is usually a coach for the Russian Yngling team and he hopes that they also will bring back the gold. Besides the Dragon he sails a ton class back in Moscow, and has been the national champion “a couple of times”

Aberdeen Dragon European Championship
Marcus Wieser (UKR) finished first 15 Dragon lengths in front of the next boat on day one of the Aberdeen Dragon European Championship, but lost it all in the protest room. Swiss Mario Kniffka is in the lead.

The sailors in the Aberdeen Dragon European Championship got heavy rain, thunder and light, unstable wind while they waited for the wind to settle on day one Monday. But when the race finally started the sailors had a 6-8 knots breeze for the first round. Then the wind, at times, picked up to 30 knots on the last downwind run. That got the adrenalin pumping and one Norwegian mast to come down.

Aberdeen Dragon European Championship
High ranked sailors from 18 nations will meet for the Aberdeen Dragon European Championship in Oslo, Norway in the end of July. 62 boats have signed up for the event and the defending title holder Marcus Wieser (UKR) will meet a very competitive fleet.

The biggest contingent this year comes from Russia. The Dragon class has really caught on in Russia the last couple of years, and they are represented with 17 boats in this year’s Aberdeen Dragon European Championship. Among them is Anatoly Karachinsky with Versiya 3.1. He is the CEO of IBS and considered to be the Russian Bill Gates.
