Qingdao Olympics

Thursday saw the final two races, the medal races for the Star and the Tornado.

Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson have won Star class gold on a thrilling final day of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Regatta today, leaving Britain’s sailors with their best Olympic medal haul for 100 years.

Sydney 2000 Finn gold medallist Percy and Simpson, making his Olympic debut, went into the race two points behind Swedes Freddie Loof and Anders Ekstrom but with one eye also on Brazilians Robert Scheidt and Bruno Prada behind them in third.

Qingdao Olympics

Just one more day of sailing competition left… Wednesday saw the medal races for the Men’s and Women’s sailboard, the RS:X. Three races were sailed in the Tornado and Star classes, who have their medal race Thursday.

Tom Ashley won the Olympic gold medal for New Zealand in today’s Medal Race of the Men’s Windsurfer event at the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition.

Qingdao Olympics

Tuesday saw the medal race for the Laser Men and Laser Radial women, a single race (10th and final before the medal race) for the RS:X Men and Women. The races for Star and Tornado were cancelled.

Today (Wednesday 20 August) will see medal races for the men and women’s RS:X class, three races scheduled for the Tornado and Star.

The last medal races for Tornado and Star are on Thursday, weather permitting.
